True Friendship

TRUE FRIENDSHIP
By Heera Nawaz
Friendship is a truly lovely, enervating and beautiful feeling
to explicitly show our reciprocal mutual love and care,
and how valley-deep our heartfelt emotions can be,
and how readily we are willing to mutually trust and share

A friend is someone we can blind-folded, believe in,
and one who stands resolutely by us, proud and strong,
a person who can without jealousy laud our achievements,
while seeing that we don’t go caput, haywire or wrong

Having a friend is very essential and absolutely necessary
in order to successfully face enemies on the way,
but guarded by the friend’s ability to accrue trust in them,
while helping us keep problems and anxieties at bay

However, even bosom friends sometimes acrimoniously fight,
but one should overlook petty skirmishes and not cry,
for if the friendship is destined and fated to be,
it WILL be, for true, unconditional friendship can never die

Due to inexplicable vicissitudes and intransigencies,
a whimsical friend can inflict indiscriminate pain,
but one should forgive the friend and one’s self,
for it is only in giving and forgiving that we ultimately gain

Why should friendship be such a top-notch priority?
It’s because friends stand by one, come what may,
friends live for us, they lie for us, and they even cry for us,
proving that “Where there’s a will, there’s an awesome way”

Heart-wrenching tears are streaming down my face,
as I think of what my sacred friendship is all about,
a friend who loves me genuinely for my heart, mind and soul,
“A friend is one who walks in when the whole world walks out”

“When the diamond’s aura and fire diminishes in beauty,
Only then will a friend wantonly relinquish his duty”.
